Frequently asked questions

Planning a private day on the lagoon? Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.

How long is the cruise?

Our private cruises last seven hours. Day cruises run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A sunset cruise runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. You will confirm your preferred departure time when you book.

Can we plan a cruise shorter than seven hours?

Yes. We can plan a shorter cruise for your group, but the price remains the same because most of our operating costs are fixed.

Where do we meet?

All cruises begin at Vai’are’s Marina, near the Moorea ferry terminal. We will send you the exact meeting instructions before your cruise.

Can cruise ship guests be dropped off back to their tender location?

Yes. Cruise ship guests meet us at Vai’are’s Marina for departure. By prior arrangement, we can drop you off at your ship’s tender location at the end of the cruise, helping you spend more of your day aboard the catamaran. Please tell us your ship and tender schedule when booking so we can plan the return.

Is the catamaran private?

Yes. TUATAU V is reserved for your group, with a captain and a hostess/steward. Tell us your group size when you inquire so we can confirm the arrangements.

What is included on board?

Your private cruise includes exclusive use of our 50-foot catamaran, a bilingual captain and a hostess/steward, and an itinerary tailored to your group and the conditions.

We provide premium snorkeling equipment, two stand-up paddleboards, beach towels, a welcome punch, fresh tropical fruits, light snacks, still and sparkling water, soft drinks, coffee, and tea.

On board you will find two marine restrooms, a fresh water shower, a swim ladder, a Bluetooth sound system, complimentary Wi-Fi, and wide built-in steps for comfortable boarding. Children are welcome. Catering and transfers to the marina may be arranged on request and are not included.

Can we arrange lunch or bring drinks?

Catered lunch can be arranged in advance. You are welcome to bring your preferred alcoholic drinks; we do not sell alcohol on board. Let us know about dietary needs before ordering catering.

Will we see dolphins, rays, turtles, sharks, or humpback whales?

Wildlife sightings are possible, but never guaranteed. The captain chooses the route and water activities based on conditions and applicable wildlife rules.

Can children join, and is snorkeling required?

Children are welcome; please tell us their ages in advance so we can prepare suitable flotation equipment. You can also stay aboard and enjoy the scenery without swimming.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled departure for a full refund of all payments made. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before departure are nonrefundable. To cancel, use the “Manage my reservation” link in your booking confirmation email. If your confirmation does not include this link, email booking@tuatauv.com. All deadlines use Moorea’s local time.

If we cancel because of unsuitable weather or unexpected mechanical issues, you may choose another available date or a full refund.

Can I reschedule my cruise?

Yes. You can reschedule as often as needed without a change fee, provided each request is made at least 24 hours before your scheduled departure. Changes are subject to availability and any difference in the cruise price. Requests made less than 24 hours before departure cannot be accepted. Email booking@tuatauv.com to arrange a change. All deadlines use Moorea’s local time.

What happens if the weather is unsuitable?

Your captain will assess the conditions and may adjust the route or activities. If we cancel because the weather is unsuitable, you may choose another available date or receive a full refund of all payments made.
